Ntungamo District has emerged victorious in the National Scouting Competitions, clinching the overall trophy and two other major awards at the Kaazi National Camping Grounds in Entebbe.
The competitions, which kicked off on 21st August and concluded on 28th August 2025, attracted scouts from across the country. Ntungamo was recognized as the best and highest mobilizer of schools, with 21 institutions—including Muntuyera High School—actively participating. The district also triumphed in the scouts’ football competitions.

The Ntungamo District leadership has launched a Shs45 million project to upgrade the 13.5-kilometre Nyakyera–Ngoma–Nyarutuntu road, marking a major step in efforts to improve rural infrastructure and stimulate economic activity.
The road, which connects key trading centres and farming communities in Nyakyera Sub-county, has been in poor condition for over four years. Deep gullies, frequent washaways during rainy seasons, and eroded culverts had rendered it nearly impassable—hindering access to markets, schools, and health facilities.

Health stakeholders in Ntungamo District have called for increased joint efforts in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS, citing growing concern over rising infections, especially among married couples and in rural communities.
The call was made on Tuesday afternoon by Nesterio Twesigye, the Ntungamo District Health Educator, during orientation of district HIV/AIDS champions, held at the Ntungamo District boardroom which brought together journalists, politicians, members of the business community, and local communicators.

Local leaders in Ntungamo District on Friday launched construction works on the 9.1-kilometre Rwerazi Road in Rukoni West Sub-county, aimed at improving connectivity and easing access to markets. The project is expected to cost Shs 65 million.
