Farmers urged to embrace climate smart Agriculture

Farmers in Uganda have been urged to embrace the climate smart agriculture project in a bid to increase their productivity as well as having high quality produce.

The call was today made by Dr. Godfrey Kagezi the senior research officer at the National Coffee Research institute under the National Agricultural Research organization says that the program’s aim at equipping the small scale farmers and nursery operators to ensure that the farmers grow crops with excellent quality so that the yields are good and beneficial to the farmer.

 Authorities in Ntungamo district have called for joint efforts towards fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS.

The call was made by Christopher Nshemereza a principal township officer who represented the chief Administrative officer at the media and key stakeholder’s engagement organized by Organization for Community Empowerment (OCE) held at redcross hall in Ntungamo municipality.

Ntungamo leaders order wetland encroachers to vacate immediately

Ntungamo district leaders have ordered all the wetland encroachers to immediately vacate the encroached areas.

 

The team leaders who were today monitoring the affected wetlands in the sub counties of Nyabushenyi and Nyabihooko where hundreds of acres of wetlands have been cleared for tree planting, cultivation and grazing.

The once fading hopes for the persons with disabilities in Ntungamo are now coming back to life with a sight of light at the end of the tunnel.

With hundreds of persons with disabilities left to struggle on their own in the district, their hope of having a better future and having an opportunity to favorably compete with others and achieve quality education were slowly but surely fading.

Itojo hospital laboratory Remodeled into modern Laboratory Hub

Itojo hospital’s laboratory has been remodeled into a modern laboratory hub thanks to funding from The United States Agency for International Development (USAID/RHITES SOUTH WEST).

 

 Located in Itojo sub county 10 kilometers from Ntungamo district on the Ntungamo district-Mbarara highway is a public facility owned by the government of Uganda serving a total estimated population of 191,200, and all of them are Ugandan nationals.

 

Outgoing Ntungamo chairperson roots for unity

The outgoing district chairperson for Ntungamo Denis Singahache has called for unity among the leaders and technocrats in the area.

Singahache who was speaking at the official handover of office held at the district’s board today afternoon revealed that the accomplishments that have been achieved by his leadership were made possible by the close working relationship his team had with the technocrats, development partners and the communities.

Ntungamo gets two new motorcycles

Ntungamo district has today received to brandy new motorcycles from the government of Uganda.

The motorcycles received are to be attached to the internal audit department and the revenue management unit in the finance department.

The motorcycles were procured by the ministry of local government and handed to beneficiary districts at Masaka district local government headquarters today afternoon.

Civil servants cautioned on absenteeism

Ntungamo district chief administrative officer Hanny Turyahebwa has cautioned civil servants in the area against the habit of absenteeism greatly affects services delivery and cripple’s government programs.

Turyaheebwa was speaking during the district technical planning committee held in the district council hall attended by departmental heads, sub county chiefs, town clerks among others.
