Ntungamo District Chairperson Advocates for Increased Utilization of Government Health Facilities

Ntungamo district chairperson Sam Muchunguzi has called for increased utilization of government health facilities in the district to eradicate diseases.

The chairperson was speaking on Wednesday at the handover ceremony of newly constructed facilities at Kafunjo Health Center III in Kafunjo-Mirama town council. Ntungamo district chairperson Sam Muchunguzi Rwakigoba encouraged local residents to prioritize the use of government-supported health facilities for timely medical care.

During his speech, Rwakigoba emphasized the importance of utilizing government-aided health services, highlighting that early detection and treatment of diseases contribute to a healthier community. He affirmed the district's dedication to enhancing health services and providing support for the well-being of its residents.

The newly inaugurated structures at Kafunjo Health Center III include a fully equipped maternity ward with labor, female and male wards, a records room, a waiting room, pre- and postnatal wards, a family planning room, as well as essential facilities such as a latrine, a medical waste pit, a placenta pit, and plastic water harvesting tanks.

Commending the district leadership for their collaborative efforts, Peter Nkurungi, the director of Geses Uganda Limited, the contracting company responsible for the construction, expressed satisfaction with the successful execution of the project.

Beatrice Chemisto, the acting district health officer for Ntungamo, shared plans for further improvements, revealing the district's intention to construct additional staff houses at Kafunjo and Rukoni health centers. This initiative aims to enhance health service delivery by ensuring that health workers are accommodated at the facilities, leading to more efficient and timely patient care.

In a related event, the district officials also presided over the handover of a twin staff house and a comprehensive maternity ward structure at Rukoni Health Center III, further underscoring the district's commitment to advancing healthcare infrastructure for the benefit of its residents.
