Ntungamo locals have been urged to always own the government programs that are always allocated to their entities if value for money is to be realized.

This call was made today by the Ntungamo district chairperson, Ntungamo Sam Muchunguzi, while speaking at the launch of the construction of the Kahunga-Nyarubaare-Kyangara road in Ntungamo Sub County, held at Kahunga Trading Center.

The chairperson revealed that the locals have a vital role to play in ensuring that the projects are realized and achieve their intended purpose.

He urged the local leaders to sensitize the locals to support the project, especially by allowing the storm water to flow freely so that it does not result in gullies.

The chairperson further revealed that the district was also ready to support the subcounties with road equipment to work on the roads in their respective areas.

Ntungamo district Engineer Charles Kusemererwa revealed that the road will cost 40 million shillings and will include bush clearing, spot graveling, and opening of the offshoots, among others.

Speaking at the same function, Ruhaama County Member of Parliament Henry Zinkuratiire revealed that the road is very vital and will help the locals transport their produce to the market.

Zinkuratiire further revealed that maximum supervision of the works will help in realizing the targets through the execution of quality work.

Monica Kutamba, the secretary for works in Ntungamo district, revealed that there is a commitment by the district to work on the roads and ease transport.

Ntungamo deputy resident district commissioner Robert Niwamanya Kamuntu revealed that the district leadership is working hard to deliver services to the people and commended the district for its transparency when it comes to the implementation of government programs.
