Local Leaders Asked to Protect Government Land
Ntungamo district local council V chairperson Denis Singahache has called on leaders at the district level and those in lower administrative units to ensure that government land is protected from grabbers.
Singhahache who was addressing local council three chairperson for sub counties and Town councils in a meeting held at Ntungamo district council hall revealed that public land is being targeted by land grabbers who usually take advantage of the laxity by some leaders.
Singahache says that district is working hard to ensure that land titles are secured for all the land owned by the district and asked local leaders to be supportive.
Speaking at the same meeting, Ntungamo district chief Administrative officer Kweyamba Ruhemba revealed that the leaders must live as examples especially ensuring that the areas they operate in a clean. He added that the sub counties should also start income generating projects to support the activities of the sub counties.
